About Us

Welcome to the Chicago Student Invention Convention - we're glad you stopped by!  The Chicago Student Invention Convention empowers students K-8 to solve problems and promotes creative thinking and innovation.

What is the Invention Convention?
The Invention Convention is a flexible curriculum focused on critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.  It is supported by activities and lesson plans and culminates in a final competition of student built prototypes.

The mission of the Invention Convention is to inspire curiosity, confidence, invention and creative problem-solving in our youth. The Invention Convention makes every effort to ensure an enjoyable, rewarding, inspirational, and educational experience for every participant.

Guiding Principles of Invention Convention:
The Invention Convention strives to achieve the following principles:
  • Empower students to express their ideas, instill confidence, and show students that their ideas are valued
  • Provide an early childhood education curriculum that promotes inventiveness, creativity, curiosity, and problem solving, and provide a venue (the invention convention) through which students can present their ideas
  • Give every child the opportunity to use their imagination, engage in creative problem solving, and feel empowered to present his or her ideas
  • Engage students in the scientific/invention process and further the goals of STEM by developing interests in science and math in young students
  • Invest in problem-solvers/thinkers/inventors/learners that will become the future leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs of Chicago, the state, and the nation
